The Old Sewerage Works waiting for great ideas:
When the new Franschhoek Sewerage Works was commissioned the old one was closed down. So what does one do with it now?
This was the purpose of the workshop held at Rickety Bridge Winery on the 13, April. It was organised by Western Cape Government, represented by Jason Mingo, who heads up the project. They have in turn have asked Shannon Royden Turner and Claire Janisch, from BiomimicrySA to facilitate the process.Add a comment

During my last year in school, I had to take a decision which way to go after my exams. I had a small idea in which direction to go on, but I wasn’t really sure about the exact topic to study. But mainly, I wanted to do something different after all the years of school and leave my books for at least one year to find out more about the world, about myself and my interests. That’s where the idea of volunteering came step by step.Add a comment

The idea of volunteering came on my last year of studies in Brussels (Bachelor in special education). I was in the international class, and had the chance to hear from my colleagues about all sorts of stories from all around the world. By then I only had the chance to discover my profession in 3 European countries (Belgium/ Brussels; France/Paris and Luxembourg). That's when I started my research.

The Cape Winelands Biosphere Reserve together with LandCare have signed an agreement to develop an indigenous tree nursery at the Sustainable Living Centre on DelVera Farm outside Stellenbosch. The owners of the farm, the Sperling Family, have very kindly given use of the premises at no cost, making this project and others, possible.Add a comment
